Covid Regulations During Camp

MASKS

What will the mask requirements be for campers and staff? (Sleeping in masks? No masks in cabins but required everywhere else?)

  • We are assuming that masks will be a part of our 2021 camp experience. When masks are required will be based on the NH State guidelines. Campers and staff will not sleep in masks and they will not be worn during waterfront activities.

 ONSITE TESTING

Will there be testing for Covid-19 for campers and staff while at camp?

  • We will rely on the guidelines from the State of NH for our testing procedures for camper and staff. In 2020, camps did test campers and staff during the camp session.

Is onsite testing only for campers that are showing symptoms or for everyone?

  • Who is tested, and how often, will be based on the guidelines from the state. In 2020, all campers and staff at NH resident campers were tested on opening day and during the session. Symptomatic campers were also tested.

 HYGINE AND SANITIZING

Will there be hygiene breaks for hand washing, etc? During activities.

  • Yes. We are planning to add handwashing and sanitizing stations around camp. Regular hygiene breaks will be scheduled.

Could you describe what will happen to the camp facilities between sessions in terms of sanitizing?

  • Daily cleaning of bathhouses and common spaces will occur during camp. The time between sessions will allow for a deeper clean of all shared spaces, as well as camper cabins.

 GENERAL STRUCTURE

Will cabins be mixing during free choice time or are cabins mostly only interacting with each other?

  • The final plan will be based on state guidelines. Based on how camps ran in 2020, campers will be able to be unmasked with their cabin group and interact with other cabins while wearing a mask. We anticipate the first few days of camp being spent with cabins and divisions, with more mixing of divisions later in the session. Current guidance prioritizes cabins and cohort groups to allow for easy contact tracing. As we have more guidelines from the state for 2021, we will update families on what the sessions will look like.

Will siblings still be able to visit each other in free time?

  • Our hope is siblings in different divisions will be able to visit each other during the session, however the final decision will be based on state guidelines.

How many people will be in each cabin? Will there be specific spacing guidelines?

  • Current state guidelines allow for 8 campers and 2 staff. We are hopeful this will change for 2021 to allow for 10 campers and 2 staff in each cabin. Campers will sleep head to toe in bunks, with heads being 6 feet apart in the cabin. We are also adding ventilation fans to all camper cabins.

My daughter would have been a 2nd year junior division this past year – will she be in junior division or middler division this year?

  • She will be a part of the Middler division. We are exploring different housing options to accommodate the larger “W” program (9th grade and 10th grade). But regardless of where your child is housed, they will be in the Middler division for programming.

 POTENTIAL OUTBREAKS

What happens if my daughter gets COVID at camp?

  • Campers testing positive for COVID will be isolated. Parents will be contacted to pick up their child as soon as possible.

If there is a COVID positive case in a cabin, would the entire cabin be sent home? Or quarantined?

  • At this time our plan is not to send an entire cabin home if there is a positive case in a cabin. The current plan would be for that cabin to remain together with their counselors doing an alternative program separate from the rest of the camp. The final plan will be based on guidelines from the State of NH.

 CONTACT WITH PARENTS

Will our children be able to connect with us through the time at camp (i.e. phone calls and not just letter writing) if there are concerns to them (only COVID related)?

  • As a rule, campers do not communicate over the phone with families. If there is a COVID related issue with your camper or your camper’s cabin, we will contact you and determine if additional communication is best for the camper.
