Leadership Program

W PROGRAM

My daughter would have been a W in 2020, will she able to come back as a W in 2021?

  • Yes. We will have a 10th grade “W” program and a separate 9th grade “W” program in 2021.

If my daughter was supposed to be an upper senior in 2020, will she be moved to the W program?

  • Yes. She will be a part of the 9th grade “W” program in 2021.

Will there be off campus trips? (including dances)

  • Based on the current guidelines, we are unable to do offcampus trips.

 HOUSING

Where will you be housing everyone in the combined (9th & 10th) W program?

  • Our priority is making sure every 2020 enrolled camper has an opportunity to be at Huckins in 2021. With that goal in mind, we are considering various housing options. The final housing will be determined once registration is complete, assuming state guidelines do not change significantly. One option is for all campers to live in the cabin they would have been housed in for summer 2020. In this option, they will participate in their division based on their grade (I.e. A 9th grader living in the Upper Senior Division would be a “W” camper in the Leadership Division Program). Another option would be all campers move into the cabins that match their grade, with the CITs moving to a different area.
  • As we confirm the 2021 housing, we will also be working through the programming questions associated with COVID and the divisional activities.

 CIT PROGRAM 2022

What do you anticipate happening to W’s being asked to be CITs for the following summer – with twice as many W’s (9th & 10th) will it be incredibly competitive? Will there be more spots available?

  • We plan to expand the CIT program for 2022 to accommodate the larger group of “W” campers in 2021.
