W Leadership Program
Each day in the W Program is unique. Mornings are dedicated to group activities such as leadership development, team-building games, and preparing to take on special roles during Program Days. After rest hour, afternoons often are spent doing favorite camp activities with the rest of camp. W campers might spend time sailing, crafting, swimming, or engaging in sports field competitions.
One of the most exciting parts of the W Program are the off-site trips. Each week, campers embark on new adventures together, with destinations varying by session. Highlights include trips to the ocean, a ride on the Cog Railway to the summit of Mt. Washington, and attending a Fishercats baseball game. These experiences foster camaraderie and create lasting memories.
Values
Through the following core pillars, the leadership program prepares W’s to navigate challenges, foster inclusivity, and build a thriving camp community, all while growing as individuals.
Problem Solving
W’s learn that they don’t need all the answers but should ask questions and use their network for guidance. They’ll practice identifying which problems to tackle and which require external help, while brainstorming solutions with peers and staff.
Community Building
We emphasize the value of each individual’s dignity and uniqueness, teaching W’s to create inclusive spaces where everyone belongs and all voices are heard. Campers within the leadership program will explore what a healthy community looks like and how they can intentionally include those who feel left out.
Resilience
W’s will practice self-care, collaboration, and perseverance, learning to embrace mistakes as opportunities for growth and being open to change.
Initiative
Leadership is about asking, “What’s next, and how can I help?” W’s will develop proactive thinking, anticipating needs and taking ownership of creating positive camp experiences.
Safety
Campers are trained to assess risks, follow safety procedures, and protect themselves and others in both physical and emotional aspects.
Empathy
W’s will learn to truly listen to others, distinguishing between listening and problem-solving, and practicing empathy in all interactions.
Conflict Resolution
Leadership campers will gain skills in resolving conflicts and knowing when to seek help.
