At Camp Huckins, there’s always something exciting to do! Our wide range of program areas offers campers the chance to explore new activities, develop skills, and have fun with friends. Before diving into each activity, campers receive orientations from staff that cover important rules, safety guidelines, and what to expect. Throughout activities, they’ll also receive continuous instruction to ensure they get the most out of their experience. Here are many activities that campers can participate in during their time at camp.

Our archery range gives campers the chance to explore a precision sport in a supportive environment. They’ll build confidence, practice patience, and try something new under the guidance of trained instructors who make safety a priority while keeping the experience fun and engaging

Arts and Crafts

Arts and Crafts

From ceramics and jewelry making to painting, gimp, tie-dye, and beading, The “Craftshop” is a creative space where campers can explore their artistic side. Campers can join daily craft specials or create their own masterpieces in this inviting, rustic space with two outdoor areas—perfect for imagination and self-expression.

Basketball

Basketball at Camp Huckins is all about teamwork, energy, and fun! Whether you’re a beginner learning the basics or a seasoned player looking to sharpen your skills, our outdoor court and indoor sports complex are the perfect place to play.

Canoeing

Canoeing

Canoeing at Huckins focuses on building communication and teamwork skills. Campers will receive basic instruction on paddling and canoe handling, learning how to work together to navigate the water. Effective communication is key as campers practice coordinating their strokes and problem-solving as a team.

Dance & Drama

Dance & Drama

Campers receive fun, engaging instruction in the fundamentals of dance and theater, fostering creativity, confidence, and self-expression. Beyond learning steps or lines, they explore movement and performance in a supportive environment. Each session culminates in a play or talent show, where campers share their hard work and creativity with the entire camp.

Enviornmental Ed

Enviornmental Ed

Our Environmental Education program at Camp Huckins nurtures a love for nature amidst the pines of New Hampshire. Campers engage in hands-on learning at the Nature Hut, explore our gardens and nature trail, and discover the importance of composting, recycling, and sustainable living. Through these experiences, they develop environmental stewardship and gain practical knowledge for caring for our planet.

Hiking

Hiking

Camp Huckins is located just south of the beautiful White Mountain National Forest. Our mountain hiking program offers campers the opportunity to sign up for off-site day hikes tailored to their age and interests.

This elective program has an additional fee.

Horseback Riding

Horseback Riding

Horseback riding is available for campers who have completed 4th grade and up. Our western-style program welcomes beginners and intermediate riders. Trails on-site allow riders to explore the beautiful surroundings. Helmets are provided, and we require long pants and closed-toe shoes.

This elective program has an additional fee.

Kayaking

Kayaking

Kayaking at Huckins offers campers a unique way to explore the water while learning the basics of paddling and balance.

Lacrosse

Lacrosse

Campers will learn the basics of handling the stick, making accurate passes, and improving their shooting skills, all while emphasizing collaboration and sportsmanship. It’s a fast-paced and fun way to stay active and develop strong team dynamics. Lacrosse is an instructional activity for campers who have completed 6th grade and up.

Mountain Biking

Mountain Biking

Mountain biking is offered as an instructional activity for campers who completed 5th grade and up. Campers receive proper instruction, and helmets are provided. With designated bike trails on site, campers can safely explore and enjoy the outdoors while building confidence and coordination. Scheduled afternoon rides give campers the chance to develop their skills on longer routes.

Paddleboarding

Paddleboarding is a fun way for campers to enjoy the lake while learning balance, paddling technique, and water safety. Whether standing or kneeling, it helps build strength, coordination, and confidence all while enjoying the water!

Pickleball

Pickleball

Pickleball is a fun and fast-paced game that can be played on one of our 9 outdoor courts or the indoor court inside the sports complex. Campers of all skill levels can enjoy instruction and free play, improving their coordination, strategy, and teamwork.

Ropes Course

Ropes Course

The Ropes Course at Camp Huckins builds problem-solving skills, teamwork, and confidence. Featuring low-ropes elements operated under strict safety standards and annually inspected by a certified Challenge Course inspector, each obstacle encourages campers to communicate, cooperate, and support one another, leaving them with stronger social skills and a sense of accomplishment.

Sailing

Sailing

Sailing gives campers the chance to learn the basics of sailing or build on existing skills out on the lake. Our fleet includes Sunfish and Rocket sailboats (single-handed dinghys), as well as Hobie Waves (catamaran). Campers learn rigging, steering, tacking, and sailing safety under the guidance of experienced instructors.

Soccer

Soccer

Soccer at Huckins is a fun and basic introduction to the sport. Campers learn simple skills like passing, dribbling, and shooting, while playing in a relaxed and supportive environment. The focus is on teamwork, movement, and having fun on the field.

Swimming

Swimming

Each morning, campers participate in instructional swim classes to build skills and confidence, while afternoons are reserved for free swim at their own pace. The Waterfront is supervised by certified lifeguards and follows ACA & state safety standards. Facilities include a tower, one-meter diving board, slide, and swim lanes. Tennis

Tennis

Huckins has four outdoor tennis courts, including one with a backboard, and a fully stocked sports cabin with rackets and tennis balls—no need to bring your own. Basic instruction is offered during daily activity periods, and the courts are open for camper use during free time each afternoon.

Waterskiing

Waterskiing

Campers who pass the outside area swim test are eligible to sign up for waterskiing. With two ski boats, Camp Huckins offers plenty of opportunities for campers to get out on the water. No prior experience is needed, and many campers try waterskiing for the first time at camp.
