Lice and Ticks at Camp
Lice: Please start checking your camper(s) daily for lice/nits. It is imperative that every camper arrives lice and nit free for the health of everyone at camp. It is highly contagious among girls 3-14. Please click on the link below for a video demonstrating how to check your child for lice. If you have any questions, ask your school nurse, your child’s health care provider and/or a knowledgeable friend/neighbor. You may also refer to the fact sheet below on lice. If you need to treat your child for lice and they are to receive another treatment at camp, please bring Rx with you.
How to Check Your Child for Lice
Additionally, please ensure that all bedding and clothing that accompanies your child is freshly washed prior to arrival.
Ticks: Your camper will be living and playing at camp in the outdoors. They are therefore at risk for tick and bug bites. Teach your child how to check for ticks in areas that are hard to reach and see. Remind them that they need to come to the Health Center if they feel or see a tick on their body. Tick repellents and bug sprays (non-aerosol, wipes or lotions) are permitted at camp.
